I’m an autodidact when it comes to foreign language and I love it. I took Spanish in high school like just about every Texan and remember some of it, but I haven’t taken a language class since. Still, I consider myself fairly proficient in French (at least writing it. Still working on understanding that crazy accent). I’ve taught myself what I know through music and dictionaries. I’m also working on Portuguese and Italian.
I’m a Christian. I’m biracial. I’m socially and fiscally conservative. Before you start hurling insults at me about being any of those three things, please get to know me first. I don’t seek conflict; I seek understanding. If conflict is brought to me, I’ll seek to end it. If whoever is bringing this conflict to me will not stop, I will fight until I win or consider them a lot cause. Fair enough?
If you’re curious, I’ll let you know that I work at a local country club and will study Communications once I finally make it to university. Currently, I’m studying at a community college in an attempt to save money and graduate college with less debt than many of my peers. I put college off for a year in order to work and establish residency in a new state and am, therefore, only in my second year of college despite having graduated high school in 2011. I’m in no real hurry to graduate college, but don’t plan on putting it off any longer than I already have. I have dreams, you know?
Writing is my favorite pass time, thus this blog exists. I write about God a lot simply because my faith is a huge part of who I am. I am not religious in the popular use of the word. I do things religiously (like going to church regularly and spending time reading my Bible), but I know that these things do not save me in the end. Do I belong to an organized religion? Yes. Do I believe my religious actions save me? No. Do I believe they strengthen me? Yes.
I don’t only write about God. I also enjoy writing about my friends. My brother (who sometimes exists and sometimes doesn’t) is also on my mind quite often. Whether you believe in a God, in the Christian God or in no god at all, I hope you can still find something that I’ve written that you can thoroughly enjoy.
I think this little introduction will suffice for now. If you want to know anything else about me, post a comment somewhere. I’m studying to be a good communicator, so I like to talk to people and get to know them. While I might seem short and closed off when you read what I’ve just written, I’m simply succinct and am quite open to the world in reality. Just initiate some conversation. You’ll see what I mean.
I have a more personal, just-me blog called “I.M.H.O.”
(that I sometimes decide to update).
